Within Oke Afin Compound, “Ibawi” was more than a form of punishment. It was a moral compass, a social regulator and an institution that reinforced accountability. Every member of the compound understood that actions had consequences. The certainty of discipline discouraged theft, dishonesty, disrespect, violence and other forms of misconduct. It fostered an environment where mutual respect, obedience to elders and communal responsibility flourished.

Ooni Remains Unquestioned Head Of All Yoruba Kings — Asaoni Of Ora Igbomina Declares
While speaking, Oba Abikoye described his presence as symbolic and significant, stating that unlike others, his return to Ile-Ife was not as a mere guest, but as a son returning home to the cradle of royalty. He said, “When I first came here, I came as a prince. But today, I am here as a king. This is where we receive our crown. According to our tradition, we must come to the Ooni to receive the date of installation before it is taken to the state governor”.

Ex Oluyole Council Chairman Settle Olaide, Wife Installed as Aare and Yeye Aare Bobaselu of Ora-Igbomina
The Ora-Igbomina kingdom on Saturday witnessed a colourful and historic ceremony as the immediate past Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Honourable Settle Olaide, and his wife, Settle Oluwatosin Alasan, were formally installed as the Aare Bobaselu and Yeye Aare Bobaselu of the ancient kingdom.

Ora Igbomina, Ijesha get new monarchs
Prince Adesuyi Haastrup and Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye were approved by the governor as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha Land and the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina, respectively.

The Significance Of The 1995 Supereme Court Judgement On Ora-Igbomina Obaship Tussle For Ile – Ife, Ooni Of Ife And Yoruba History
This was the historical test and conditionality which Asaonni and Akesin were subjected to before the Supreme Court of Nigeria. As revealed by the September 1st,1995 Supreme Court Judgement, it was established that only Asaooni has historically connection with Ile-Ife and consequently he is only the authourized king entitled to wear beaded crown in Ora-Igbomina while Akesin leanege was discovered to have no historical connection to Ile-Ife and was consequently prohibited from wearing beaded crown in Ora-Igbomina.
